EMDR Intensives

What if you knew you could significantly reduce, if not entirely eliminate, distress around a traumatic event from your past in as little as 2 days?  Or completely shift a limiting belief you’ve had weighing you down for years!  Would you be interested in finding out more?

An EMDR Intensive is a cutting-edge therapy modality that offers you the chance to knock out a chunk of trauma in a compact amount of time (usually 2-5 days) and see results that actually last!  Research shows EMDR Intensives to be as effective as weekly EMDR sessions, but unlike traditional therapy that requires a regular commitment to ongoing work that can take months if not years to complete, EMDR Intensives give you the opportunity to do a large amount of work in a brief and manageable amount of time.

FAQs

How is this possible?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) is an internationally recognized and recommended modality for treating trauma, anxiety, depression, and many other issues where people struggle.  For more on how EMDR works, check out this website https://www.emdria.org/about-emdr-therapy/.  In addition to EMDR, we will integrate IFS and SE elements to amplify the long-lasting effects of the treatment.

Won’t I get overwhelmed and risk being further traumatized?

Great question!  The nature of EMDR and other trauma processing modalities such as Somatic Experiencing (SE) and Internal Family Systems (IFS) is that they allow us to move toward a naturally resourced place.  What this means is that in an intensive, you will not be stuck in the deep end of the trauma the whole time (Heck no!).  While there may be moments of intensity, the process assists the stuck pain, thoughts, body sensations, images, and any other elements from the trauma to move through and release, leaving you calm, regulated, and present.  EMDR and SE focus our body’s ability to heal trauma and gives it the ideal conditions for making progress.  Combine these conditions with a longer amount of time and you are ideally set up to work through large amounts of material.

As an added layer of assurance, I am also level 1 IFS trained, and SE level 2 trained.  If you want to learn more about these modalities check out the IFS page and the SE page.  But more important than all that therapy lingo, what this means is that I have leveled-up super powers that will keep me attuned to you throughout the whole process – assessing and managing distress levels, and also layering in additional resourcing if needed to keep a safe container for your processing

What does the research say?

Research on EMDR intensives shows significant symptom reduction as well as long-lasting effects.

What is the time and resource commitment?

The average EMDR Intensive is 5 processing hours a day for 2-5 days with plenty of extra time for breaks, snacks, and lunch in between! The time required to process a trauma varies based on the nature of the event, the individual, other trauma history, and symptom severity.  When we meet virtually for your free EMDR Intensive consultation, I will provide a personalized plan with recommended number of treatment days and cost estimate.  The daily rate for an EMDR intensive is $1500.  Unfortunately, insurance does not offer coverage for EMDR Intensives at this time.

How will this benefit me?

Simply put – An EMDR Intensive offers you the chance to find immediate relief for emotional distress and eliminate the debilitating effects of unresolved past trauma
